A hotel executive who's featured prominently in the Discovery Channel series "American Casino" was found dead earlier this week.

Michael Tata, 33, was vice president of hotel operations at the Green Valley Ranch casino/hotel in Henderson, Nev. Henderson police found his body Tuesday morning (July 6) while responding to a call at his home.

The cause of death is under investigation, police spokesman Keith Paul tells the Las Vegas Review-Journal. Officers found no signs of foul play at the home.

"Michael was the heart and soul of Green Valley Ranch's hotel operations," Joe Hasson, general manager of Green Valley Ranch, says in a statement. "[T]oday we all feel like we have lost a member of our family."

Discovery's "American Casino" follows several Green Valley Ranch employees as they try to keep things running smoothly at the hotel. The show portrays Tata as highly detail-oriented and has also chronicled a series of run-ins between him and manager Ninya Perna.

The paper also reports that Discovery has stopped filming on the show, at least for the time being. The network couldn't be reached for comment on Tata's death.
